SENSE AND SENSIBILITY - film / by Stephanie Puls

Usually when I see there’s a remake of a classic - Jane Austen in this case - I think to myself, do we really need yet another version of this?! And you know what, call me a negative Nancy because, this 2026 version of Sense and Sensibility starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, George MacKay and Esme Creed-Miles is a lovely, enjoyable film. Remake a classic if it’s this charming!

A ‘bonnet drama’ isn’t for everyone but if it’s your thing, I reckon you’ll enjoy this too. It’s not 5 stars’ worth of brilliance but it’s 3.5 stars’ worth of pleasant entertainment. (There’s a few creative choices I wasn’t personally a fan of but nothing major.)

Sense and Sensibility is in cinemas 15 October, runs 132 minutes and is rated PG. Trailer here.
